Quenching Curiosity: Behind the Scenes

Quenching Curiosity: Behind the Scenes

Do you know the country of origin of the cotton that your T-shirt was made in? Do you know where and how it was produced? At Thirsty, we are open about everything we do, from the country of origin of our cotton to the production process and final delivery we leave no question unanswered. We empower you to make choices that align with your values, fostering a community that values sustainability and transparency as much as style.

Our Process

Materials

All our products are made out of 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton from the Aegean Region of Turkey. GOTS evaluates the processing and manufacturing of textiles based on environmental and social criteria. This means assessing everything from assuring that non-chemical inputs are used to the ethical treatment of workers from the cotton plantation to the production. After all the essential processes such as harvesting the cotton, fibre separation, spinning, yarn formation weaving and rolling, the material rolls are transported by ship to the Netherlands.

Production

Afterwards, they are delivered by truck from our Dutch supplier to our local sewing room in Poland. We produce within a 10-kilometer radius from Warsaw, Poland. This way we can easily oversee the whole process and build close relationships with people responsible for manufacturing. We can see how our products are made including taking pictures and videos. Additionally, we know and interact personally with the people who sew our products.

For all T-shirts and hoodies, we use our customised fit tailored together with young fashion designers from Poland.

Executing designs

Upon collecting the finished garments, we move on to make embroideries or screen-print our designs. Embroideries are made by our partner right next to the sewing room close to Warsaw. All our designs are made and printed by Jan Banasiak. Recently, we expanded our workshop with a screen printing machine which gives us more flexibility and full control over the process of bringing our designs to life. We use exclusively natural watercolour paints and look for the most sustainable options available.

Delivery

After everything is ready, we distribute our products between our workshop in Poland and Tilburg headquarters in the Netherlands. We handle every order with care and ship it personally via post or couriers. However, if your order comes from Tilburg or close surroundings, we guarantee a personal delivery to your doorstep by bike within 24 hours.

From the cotton fields to the delivery, we're not just creating clothes; we're weaving a story of ethical sourcing and manufacturing. We are on a journey to contribute to a more sustainable and transparent fashion industry and are excited to take you along. In fact none of this would be possible without you. We want to express our gratitude to you – our valued supporters, conscious consumers, and advocates for positive change. It is your commitment to making ethical choices that fuels our passion and pushes us forward.
